This is a free presentation and panel discussion about your right to be free from housing discrimination regardless of your actual or perceived gender, disability, immigration status, color, race, national origin, sexual orientation, and other protected classes. The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz (HACSC) wishes to provide advance notice of an upcoming temporary closure of the HACSC Project Based Voucher (PBV) Request for Proposals (RFP), effective August 1, 2024. The temporary closure is anticipated to be brief, and a new PBV RFP will subsequently be issued and advertised. The new PBV RFP will reflect updated strategic priorities and scoring criteria as approved by the HACSC Board of Commissioners.

Applications pursuant to the currently published HACSC PBV RFP may be submitted at any time through 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.  All proposals received by the July 31, 2024 deadline will be scored according to the currently published HACSC Project-Based Voucher Program Application Scoring Criteria.

It’s that time again! The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz in coordination with our non-profit New Horizons Affordable Housing and Development is excited to announce the New Horizons Scholarship Program Application is now open.

This program is designed to support economic mobility and academic achievement of active participants of rental assistance programs administered by the Housing Authority or a resident of a New Horizons or Housing Authority owned or controlled property. Last year we received nearly 100 applications and awarded $5700 to 55 eligible applicants.

Selected applicants will be awarded a minimum $1000 scholarship to help meet their educational goals and to increase their opportunities for economic mobility. Individuals interested in receiving a scholarship must complete an application, write an essay describing their academic and long-term goals, and submit a letter of recommendation.

Application will be available as of April 1, 2024, and must be submitted by the due date of May 31, 2024.

The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz (HACSC) has revised its Annual Agency and Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) Administrative Plans and has developed a draft Moving to Work (MTW) Supplement inclusive of Agency and Safe Harbor Waivers in accordance with all applicable Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rules and regulations.

The Annual Agency Plan, HCV Administrative Plan, and MTW Supplement inclusive of Agency and Safe Harbor Waivers are available for review at the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz public lobby, located at 2160 41st Avenue, Capitola, California. Lobby hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday excluding published holidays.

The Annual Agency Plan, HCV Administrative Plan, and MTW Supplement including Agency and Safe Harbor Waivers are also available for review digitally at https://dev.hacosantacruz.org/general-information/agency-plans/.

HACSC invites written comments on the Agency Plan, HCV Administrative Plan, and MTW Supplement inclusive of Agency and Safe Harbor Waivers. The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz wants your feedback! The Housing Authority has partnered with Zilo International Group, a strategic management consulting firm, to conduct a stakeholder survey. The survey will be conducted across three distinct groups of clients: Group 1) housing choice voucher participants, Group 2) residents of Housing Authority owned or controlled properties, and Group 3) property owners and property managers that are currently active or have rented to Section 8 voucher holders. Surveys and outreach will be conducted via postal mail, emailed online survey and by phone and will continue through December 29^th. The survey results will provide guidance on improving our overall client experience, expanding housing and client services opportunities, and improving feelings of equity across programs and services. All Housing Authority participants will receive more information and their surveys over the next week.

LA AUTORIDAD DE VIVIENDA DEL CONDADO DE SANTA CRUZ ANUNCIA SU ENCUESTA A GRUPOS DE INTERÉS

In the event of a federal government shutdown, the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Cruz (HACSC) will remain open and operational during a government shutdown.

HACSC is an independent entity and not part of the federal government. Therefore, our staff will continue to work, and all of our programs and services will continue without interruption. This means that families and landlords participating in HACSC programs can rest assured that their housing assistance will continue to be disbursed, and the agency’s staff will continue to work diligently to meet their needs.
